Better understanding of X-ray security inspection equipment

As we all know, X-rays are harmful to human health. During the detection process, the X-rays emitted by the X-ray flaw detector will irradiate human tissues and interact with the cells, tissues and body fluids inside, resulting in the ionization of atoms or molecules in the substance, thus directly destroying some macromolecular structures. Considering the unsafe factors existing in the X-ray inspection process, the safety protection work of X-ray operation needs to be considered from the following aspects:

(1) Operation site management: 

Before conducting the inspection, the inspection unit should communicate with relevant departments in a timely manner, coordinate and arrange on-site work, and place the purpose safety warning bulletin board in a key position. If multiple units are required to work at the intersection, both parties should coordinate safe and reasonable work arrangements. In the case of rain, snow and other weather conditions, it is necessary to do a good job of covering equipment and instruments.

(2) Instrument and equipment management

The equipment must be inspected, in good condition when in use, each instrument should be qualified, and within the period of validity, to prevent personal injury and death caused by equipment damage.

1. The X-ray inspection personnel must be at least 18 years old, and the physical examination meets the requirements of the radiological operation, and the unqualified personnel qualification certificate and "radiology personnel certificate" shall not be operated.

2. Before the X-ray worker is on duty, the unit should organize pre-job training to improve the worker's safety awareness and learn basic safety protection knowledge.

3. During the inspection, there should be a safety guardian who can communicate with the outside in a timely and effective manner. When an emergency occurs, appropriate measures can be taken.

4. Operators must wear relevant protective equipment and monitoring equipment to enhance protection.
